My (Small Press) Writing Day - Joshua Gillingham

Canadian poet, fiction writer, publisher, and critic Rob McLennan recently asked me to contribute to his project My (Small Press) Writing Day. Modeled after a similar project hosted by The Guardian, authors are asked to describe their typical writing day in detail from start to finish. While I currently only take one full day a week to do my writing (Mondays) it was very interesting to look at my own approach to writing as an observer.

After I sent Rob the final draft I had a chance to read through the days of countless other authors. It was intriguing to find such a spectrum of approaches and experiences; hardly any were similar. From college delinquents to stay-at-home Dads to depressed poets to caffeine-fueled super-Moms, each writer had a distinctly different story to tell.
